Known in Cobra circles as ‘The FoMoCo Blue Demo’, chassis number CSX 2360 was delivered to Lew Spencer’s Hi-Performance Motors in Los Angeles on 29 January 1965. Intended as a demonstrator, potential customers would be treated to some very exciting test drives courtesy of Peter Brock, designer of the Daytona Cobra and split-screen Chevrolet Corvette. Next year will see Ian Northeast and his dedicated team return to Bonneville with what they hope will become the world’s fastest Jensen. The aim is for the heavily-modified 1965 CV8 to hit 200mph, but before that happens visitors to Reis Race Retro from 21-23 February can head to the stand of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) to see this remarkable car for themselves. Historic Cooper-Bristol helps Equipe Classic Racing to launch 50s race series at Reis Race Retro 2020. Following on from the success of its GTS and Pre ’63 programmes, Equipe Classic Racing has announced a brand-new historic race series for 2020, and its stand at Reis Race Retro will be featuring a very special part of motorsport history. Visitors to Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, will have the opportunity to admire a Cooper-Bristol that was previously raced by the late Formula 1 World Champion, Mike Hawthorn.
