1975 MZ TS 150

With 1981 being the last year this bike was taxed, it was presumably laid up when it was only six years old. The restoration was started last year by its previous owner, and since buying it in January 2025 the present owner has continued the work.

The engine was disassembled when bought, and is now fully rebuilt with a 125cc top end. Some parts currently fitted are from a slightly later 1978 TS 150, such as the later style telescopic forks, which will be replaced with original parts once overhauled.

Daimler aimed to attract affluent owner-drivers with these smaller models, supplied with factory fitted bodies. The Daimler-Knight sleeve-valve engine ran very quietly, provided good torque and power, but burned more oil than poppet-valve cars of the time.

The car served reliably, coving over 100,000 miles before suffering a piston and sleeve failure in 1954. At the time the car had been loaned to the local schoolmaster. The engine was dismantled but deemed irreparable due to a shortage of components. It was forgotten for 45 years, parked in a shed in Kington with its engine in bits laid by its side.

In 1999, the car was recovered from the shed, by then dilapidated, where a leaking roof caused interior damage. Despite this, the vehicle was in remarkably good condition. The engine was rebuilt using parts found next to the car and after nine months was roadworthy again.

Since 1999 the car has covered a further 4,500 in the UK and France without being trailered, always reaching its destination.

Jowett Jupiter Le Mans 1951

Although originally built as road cars, the Jupiters was highly competitive in period with 3 consecutive class wins at Le Mans, 1951, 1952 and 1953, along with an outright win in the 1951 Lisburn International Rally. The Le Mans Jupiters were the subject of much modification to ensure that race speeds could be maintained and pit stops minimised during the 24 hour race.

With no surviving drawings or written records available, hundred of hours have been spent researching surviving photographic records in order to produce the car that you see exhibited. Under build and restoration since 2017 well in excess of 2,500 have been expended in the execution of the car.
