British GT driver, Paul Vice, to join club stand |

The Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club are sponsoring the Invictus Games Racing Jaguar F – Type entry in this year’s British GT championship and Paul Vice is one of the team of three alongside Steve McCulley and Matthew George in their second season. In 2000, aged just 16, Paul Vice MC joined the Royal Marines. By 2011 he was on his fourth tour of Afghanistan when on foot patrol in Helmand Province, Paul stepped on an IED. He suffered a traumatic brain injury resulting in paralysis of his right arm, and more than 400 pieces of shrapnel were removed from his body by surgeons. He was, as a subsequent documentary called him, ‘The Commando Who Refused to Die’. After some investigation, long-term marque specialist and restorer Roger Bennington thought the same and set himself a mission – to restore it. And that’s where, in 2006, this particular DB4 began its restoration journey. |

More than a year after Practical Classics, the Standard Motor Club and car enthusiasts from across the UK challenged Ford’s plans to crush a 1959 Standard 10 as part of its scrappage scheme, the DVLA has at last confirmed it can hit the road once more. The Standard currently resides at the Dundee Motor Museum where it is looked after by the Standard Motor Club’s Bob Alexander. Now it is road legal It will be prepared for an MOT and driven by the PC team from the Museum, where the car has been on display for the past year, straight to the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show with Discovery on March 22-24. At the show it will be the star attraction on the Practical Classics stand (No. 320 in Hall 5) where you can come and meet the car that has become a legend. |

Robert Holmquist’s 1930 Standard Big 9 Arrow Special is a true collector’s item – because to bring it to the NEC, Robert has had to collect up all the parts to even make it look like a car! “Believed to be the only Standard Motors Big 9 ever to be bodied by Arrow Coachworks, the car was laid up around 1960, with 250,000 miles on the clock,” explains Robert. “It was left to rot into the ground until 2011 when it was quite literally dug out of the ground by what became its third owner. |
