National Car Club Awards to honour Barrie’Whizzo’ Williams and John Haynes at The NEC, Practical Classics, Classic Car & Restoration Show 2019. The show takes place at the National Exhibition Centre, in Birmingham, on Friday 22nd March, Saturday 23rd March and Sunday 24th March 2019. |

Awards Panel Chairman Lee Masters said: “In the past year, the classic motoring community has lost two giants. The judging panel were unanimous in their desire to see both John Haynes and ‘Whizzo’ honoured by the community they both contributed so much to.” The Judges Special Recognition Awards will be presented at a prize giving dinner held on Saturday 23rd March at the NEC alongside the Practical Classics Classic car & Restoration Show, with Discovery. Over the course of the evening, 18 awards will be presented to UK car clubs and their devoted members, including these two honours. John Haynes passed away in February 2019 while Barrie ‘Whizzo’ Williams died in September 2018 after a short illness. |

The final six cars chosen by enthusiasts in the battle for the coveted accolade of Restorer of the Year have been revealed as voting reopens. The outright winner will be announced at the NEC, Practical Classics, Classic Car & Restoration Show 2019. The show takes place at the National Exhibition Centre, in Birmingham, on Friday 22nd March, Saturday 23rd March and Sunday 24th March 2019. |

Hidden Treasures – Barn Finds across the UK |

They say one man’s rust is another man’s treasure – which is the perfect way to describe this year’s Carole Nash Barn Find display. The UK’s biggest gathering of barn finds features 20 cars that have been discovered in barns, garages, yards and gardens all over the country. The oldest vehicle on the display is Robert Holmquist’s 1930 Standard Big 9 Arrow Special. A true collector’s item – because to bring it to the NEC, Robert has had to collect up all the parts to even make it look like a car! Believed to be the only Standard Motors Big 9 ever to be bodied by Arrow Coachworks, the car was laid up around 1960, with 250,000 miles on the clock. It was left to rot into the ground until 2011 when it was quite literally dug out of the ground. |

Call of the wild – Jaguars Gather at Classic Car Auctions |

The auction will see over fifteen Jaguars with some wonderful examples of the XJS, 340, XJ8 and the classic E-Type being offered. Leading the charge is a 1970 E-type Series 2 roadster in silver, with an incredible low mileage of just 26,100 miles, which is believed to be correct according to a respected marque expert. This car is a left hand drive model, which is unrestored and largely original and presented in sparkling condition winning the Concours d’Elegance at the Jaguar Club North America. The car is accompanied by its heritage certificate, history file and concours trophies. The estimate for this car is £50,000 to £60,000. |
